The animals of Ukraine need help -here’s how you can

Just like many all over the world, we have been deeply saddened by the events in Ukraine over the past two weeks. Our hearts are with the families and people whose lives have been overturned by destruction and even mortality.

Of course, there are the animals, who are also victims. Many people will have lost their pets, when they have been forced to leave their homes. Fortunately, there are quite a few organisations helping, and you can be involved.

IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare) appeal

The IFAW as it organises emergency aid during this crises. It writes on its website: ‘Evacuation is not an option for shelter staff and the over 800 dogs in their care. The staff are unable to cook food for the dogs, as fire could alert outside forces to the shelter. Find out more and how you can donate here.

Network for Animals

EMERGENCY! In the “fog of war”, much is uncertain – but NOT FOR INNOCENT dogs and cats discarded on the streets in Ukraine

Network for Animals

As pets are being abandoned, shelters are being inundated with them, and many are without any government funding. Network for Animals is in communication with their workers, and hopes to provide urgent help in feeding dogs, cats and other animals. Pet food companies can deliver two hours in advanced, but only as long as they get paid. Hence, you can be be involved by donating here.

Uanimals

Like Network for Animals, this Ukrannian organisation is also providing support to shelters. You can help them by becoming a member.

Forgotten Animals

Meanwhile, this UK-based charity also works to help animals in former Soviet countries. Right now, this particularly means aiding sanctuaries and shelters and their animals in Ukraine. Read more about how you can help here

There’s more – here’s Animals Charities list

As well as this there are quite a lot more charities and organisations involved – in bringing food and support to the animals of Ukraine – here’s a longer list.

Even a small donation to one of your choosing will be doing a great deal to help the Animals of Ukraine.

Refugees will be allowed pets into the UK

Meanwhile, a recent announcement: the UK government is set to announce ’emergency measures to make it easier for evacuees to bring their pets into the UK. You can read about it here.
